restore youthful glow

Microdermabrasion is a very popular exfoliation treatment for all skin types because it is quick, safe, painless, and effective with no downtime. It is achieved by the use of aluminum oxide mineral micro-crystals or a diamond tip to remove dead or damaged skin cells leaving skin softer, smoother, brighter, clearer, and younger looking.

Microdermabrasion is also helpful for whiteheads, black-heads and acne-prone skin as it aids the removal of debris that can lead to clogged pores and acne. For smooth skin, a little microdermabrasion goes a long way. Regular microdermabrasion sessions keep the skin clear and fresh and active skin products will penetrate better following microdermabrasion. At LiLyDermis med spa in Calgary we use both micro-crystals and diamond tip microdermabrasion machines which are medical-grade system for professional use. With microdermabrasion, the mineral crystals/diamond tip with gentle vacuum, exfoliates approximately 20-25 microns of dead skin cells of the outermost skin layer.

Men and women of any skin type can benefit from microdermabrasion. Anyone with aging, dry, devitalized, blemished, dull and sun-damaged skin. It is also popular to remove the rough skin of keratosis pilaris found on the upper arms and shoulders. The most common areas treated include the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back, hands, knees, and elbows, but anybody site can be treated. Microdermabrasion treatment usually takes an hour.

This treatment is not aggressive. The procedure is painless and typically no anesthetics are required. Usually, treatments are performed every 4 weeks for a series of 2-3. Generally, results are more noticeable after the 3rd treatment, although even after the first session, the skin will appear fresher, cleaner, smoother, and softer for many patients.
